Who We Are

The Divine Assembly is a magic mushroom church. Protected by the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, our mushroom sacrament helps us connect with the Divine. Worship on your own or as an active part of TDA's healthy, interconnected community.

TDA’s one tenet is:

Each individual can commune directly with the Divine and receive guidance.

Our tenet recognizes:

  1. Worship needs no dogma

  2. Worship requires no intermediaries

  3. Worship connects us

The Divine Assembly (TDA) is a community of spiritual seekers who individually commune with the Divine through prayer, meditation, ceremony, and our sacrament of psilocybin mushrooms. Assembly members support and strengthen each other through ceremony and integration. If you’d like support or some companionship on the journey, we’re here. We hope that together we can seek the Divine and help each other better learn to respect ourselves, others, and the Divine.

What is the Divine like?

The Divine must be encountered and experienced, to be comprehended. The words and descriptions of others won’t get us there.

How is the Assembly organized?

Individuals can commune directly with the Divine and receive personal guidance. With that ability, there is not a need for clergy to stand between a worshiper and the Divine to interpret or explain the Divine. Members enjoy autonomy to worship and commune as they see fit. This means that each individual can have untrammeled communion with their Divine. In most religions, the founder alone is allowed such freedom, while adherents are expected to stay within the boundaries prescribed by the founder’s vision.

Where does the Divine Assembly meet?

TDA events are posted in the Gatherings section of this website. None of these gatherings involves the sacrament. TDA members are free to safely and autonomously worship anywhere they choose. No authorization or coordination is needed. Independent ceremonies can be as varied as imagination, creativity, and inspiration allow. Be aware, however, that TDA does not vouch for ANY sacrament ceremonies. It is a red flag, if anyone claims otherwise.

What is the mission of the Divine Assembly?

The Divine Assembly is a church that connects people to self, others, and the Divine, protects responsible and religious use of psilocybin, and cultivates health and healing. Each individual is spiritually autonomous and is encouraged to develop an individualized experience with the Divine. Individualized, autonomous communion with the Divine is not limited by the experiences, beliefs, or teachings of anyone else.

What is a psilocybin sacrament ceremony?

Psilocybin mushrooms are our sacrament. Our active sacrament helps us connect with self, others, and the Divine. Celebration can be part of a ceremony. Solemnity, reflection, and devotion also can be part. Creativity in ceremony is encouraged. Our sacrament is mushrooms, for heaven’s sake. Why would we follow a script? Safety, however, is always paramount, including a properly-trained and vetted guide.

Why a psilocybin sacrament?

The psilocybin sacrament is ancient and pervasive across many cultures. Humans have long known that psilocybin mushrooms can occasion mystical states of consciousness. There, we encounter the Divine and receive guidance and healing. This is pure religion.

How do I obtain the psilocybin sacrament?

TDA does not provide sacrament. Like the early Christian home-churches, TDA members independently plan and conduct sacrament ceremonies. To help members find each other, so they can connect and plan ceremonies, TDA does host non-sacrament events that can be found on the Gatherings page.

Is TDA a church?

Yes. We prefer to call it a platform. The term “church” can conjure thoughts of passively receiving something pre-made and packaged by others. The word “platform” suggests something incomplete and an invitation to build. Members are encouraged to connect with others and build content and activities on the platform. Each member is a node, working to connect with others and build the mycelial network. Individual members independently plan and conduct worship ceremonies, without coordination, authorization, or supervision from a central authority. TDA’s One Tenant means that TDA members do not require or expect anyone or any institution to stand between them and the Divine. Please read our section on Safety.

Is the psilocybin sacrament legal?

Laws protect sincerely-held religious beliefs. That protection can include the sacramental use of psilocybin. To secure that legal protection for religious use, worshipers must be safe and sincere. Please read our section on Legal Worship.

Why is safety emphasized?

Addiction and abuse-potential of psilocybin are extremely low. Nevertheless, if used improperly, psilocybin can cause real harm, such as psychological trauma or physical endangerment. Also, while in mystical states of consciousness, worshipers are vulnerable. Therefore, TDA insists that safety protocols be properly observed, including preparation and integration procedures. If individuals are in danger or have been harmed, law enforcement and proper authorities should be contacted. DO NOT HIDE HEALTH CONCERNS. DO NOT HIDE SEXUAL ASSAULT. Hiding problems works to condone and perpetuate problems. We are not pretending in any way about our religious sincerity or our strict insistence on safety.

How do I join the Divine Assembly?

Simple. If you share the belief that individuals can commune with the Divine and commit to obey safety protocols, just give us your name and email. According to the Constitution, the government can never make us turn over the membership list. If, however, you are nervous about giving us your name and email, no problem. Create a new email account and just give us the new name you take as a worshiper.

Do I need to pay any money?

Nope. To help build TDA and fund its work, donations are encouraged, solicited, and much appreciated, but they are not required. The Divine Assembly is a religious organization open to all. It relies entirely on voluntary donations.

Do I need a membership card?

Nope. But a card can help show your religious sincerity and the centrality of mushrooms to your worship.

Can I really perform a marriage?

Yes, you can! Details are found HERE.

What is Summer Revival?

Summer Revival is the primary opportunity to connect with other TDA members and build the mycelial network. Revival is the late-June 3-day/2-night festival chock-full of workshops, presentations, activities, and opportunities to find your people. Learn more HERE.
